What is obliques or ribs?

Obliques are a group of muscles located in the abdomen and lower back, responsible for rotation and side bending of the torso. They are divided into two main groups: external obliques and internal obliques. The external obliques are the largest of the two and run diagonally downward and forward, while the internal obliques lie beneath them and run diagonally upward and forward.

Ribs are curved bones that form the rib cage, protecting the vital organs of the chest, such as the heart and lungs. There are 12 pairs of ribs, with the upper 7 being attached to the sternum, and the lower 5 being attached either indirectly or not at all. The first 7 pairs of ribs are commonly referred to as true ribs, while the remaining 5 pairs are called false ribs. The last two pairs of ribs are also known as floating ribs because they do not attach to the sternum or other ribs.
